Resistance Soldering > Plier Style Resistance Soldering System

Resistance Soldering offers the ability to solve difficult soldering applications with intense, localized heat.
Now, American Beauty offers the ability to attain more consistently repeatable solder joints by controlling the application of this intense heat with our new Precision Timer Module. At last...resistance soldering and tight operating parameters can go hand-in-hand. Please take a moment to examine our Model 105PTM Resistance Solder Precision Timer Module. The Precision Timer Module is suitable for all systems on this page, except for Model 10505.

Model 10506 - Standard Capacity Plier-Style Resistance Soldering System

Description: This System consists of a Model 105A12 (250 watt) Power Unit, a Model 105158 Small High-Heat Carbon Pliers Handpiece and a Model 10519 Footswitch.

Uses: This System may be used for a wide variety of standard soldering applications. These uses may include, but are not limited to, wire harness assemblies for larger AWGs, copper tubing, semi-rigid coaxial cable connections, micro-wave connections, refrigeration work and terminal attachments up to 3/16” diameter.

Replacement Electrodes/Elements: Model 105159

Power Unit Description: The Model 105A12 Power Unit has a low-voltage, high amperage, variable output, isolated transformer. The output voltage is 0 - 2.8 VAC (with no load). The control knob reads 0 – 100% of output voltage. This Power Unit may be adapted to automated and fixtured production tooling. For more detailed information please read the Information/Instruction sheet included with the Power Unit in this Kit.

Handpiece Description: Small High Heat Carbon Electrode Tweezer Style Handpiece. Supplied with two 1/4" x 1/4" x 1-1/2” (6.35 mm x 6.35 mm x 38.1 mm) Carbon Block Electrodes and an Allen wrench for assisting with the replacement of Electrodes. It also features a four-foot (1.22 m) flexible, 14-2 wire HPN neoprene cable (for flexibility), with taper pin quick connect terminals for connection to American Beauty® Power Units (push in turning clockwise until snug). The handles are padded for operator comfort. The Electrode jaws opening is 3/16” (4.76 mm) and may be lightly clamped down onto the work-piece to hold it in place using the Handpieces tweezer-type design. Only light pressure between the carbons and the work piece is necessary to conduct current, in order to provide the resistance path that is required to generate heat. The resistance of the specially formulated carbons is such that even high-temperature solders may be used when required. The tool is ruggedly built of high-grade materials and works best when the setscrews securing the carbons are checked periodically for tightness. For more detailed information please read the Information/Instruction sheet included with the Handpiece in this Kit.

Footswitch Description: The Model 10519 Footswitch is a rugged, industrial switch, (wired normally open), with a six-foot (1.83 m) 18-3 SJT cord and NEMA 5-15 P/R piggyback style plug/receptacle. This footswitch is often used, to better control the cycle time needed for an application.

Model 10507 - High Capacity Plier-Style Resistance Soldering System

Uses: This System can be used to create accurate, trustworthy solder joints in many applications which include but are not limited to copper tubing, semi-rigid coaxial cable, microwave connectors, motor stators and electrical motor rebuilding applications.

Replacement Electrodes/Elements: Model 105159

Power Unit Description: The Model 105B2 Power Unit has a low-voltage, high amperage, selectively variable output, isolated transformer. The output voltage is 1.2 – 5.8 VAC (with no load), selectable through a multi-tapped primary switch and three secondary taps. This Power Unit may be adapted to automated and fixtured production tooling. For more detailed information please read the Information/Instruction sheet included with the Power Unit in this Kit.

Handpiece Description: Medium High-Heat Carbon Electrode Tweezer Style Handpiece. Supplied with two 1/4" x 1/4" x 1-1/2” (6.35 mm x 6.35 mm x 38.1 mm) Carbon Block Electrodes (mounted in heavy-duty Nickel-plated Brass adapters) and an Allen wrench for assisting with Electrode replacement. This Handpiece features four-foot (1.22 m) 10 AWG high-stranded DLO cables (for flexibility), with taper pin quick connect terminals for connection to Power Units (push in turning clockwise until snug). The handles are padded for operator comfort. The Jaws open to 9/16" (14.28 mm) and may be lightly clamped down onto the work piece to hold it in place using the Handpieces tweezer-type design.
